Numerical Knitting

Green Giant Booties

I felt like making socks, but I didn’t want to do much before my first Socks that Rock Club kit came so baby socks seemed the perfect solution. These are pretty much my own pattern, and now I am prepared in case there is a baby gift emergency!

Pattern: My own toe-up, based on the knowledge of others! Cast on 8 stitches on each side. Increase every other row till you have 44. Knit straight till the sock is 2 inches (see notes). Use short row heel technique with 7 stitches decreased on each side. Once heel is done do K2 P2 rib for 2 inches. Increase in every stitch (88 stitches total) and then bind off.

Modifications: I made it up as I went along. The ruffle came about because I remember the pain of trying to get all 5 toes headed into a tiny sock top at one time!

Yarn: Gems Pearl in color Baby Aqua

Needles: Sz 1 Addi Turbo, magic loop

What I like: Pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself.

What I would change: I think they look a little small. I think I will make the foot longer next time. Also I might not increase as much at the top so that it’s not quite as ruffled.
