Numerical Knitting

BSJ

Everybody’s knitting it so I should too? Whatever the reason, when I found out Cathy was expecting I decided a Baby Surprise was in order. Plus, I had all this Socks that Rock lying around! It’s not a colorway I would usually think about for a baby, but I really like it. This will soon be on its way to Baby Maya!

Pattern: Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman

Modifications: I wanted longer sleeves so I started by casting on 36 and knit ribbing for 6 rows. I increased 9 stitches in the next row and changed to garter knitting 14 rows. I cut the yarn and repeated the process to make another. When I finished those 14 rows I cast on the number I needed between the two sleeves. And oops, only four button holes…

Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Mediumweight in Scottish Highland

Needles: Sz 6 Knitpicks Options

What I like: It is so cute!

What I would change: I might think about the increases and decreases a little more to be sure it looks the way I want.
