Numerical Knitting

Sometimes you hear some news and you know you just have to do something. This was one of those times. When I heard that Cheryl was diagnosed with lymphoma I knew I was about to knit my first chemo cap.

Pattern: Odessa by Grumperina on MagKnits

Modifications: I left out the beads

Yarn: KnitPicks Elegance in Cornflower

Needles: Sz 6 KnitPicks Options

What I like: So soft and the pattern was nice and easy to follow. I love the spiral.

What I would change: Nothing, and I have yarn to make another!

Other notes: I used all of one ball and only a little of another. I think you could easily get two hats from three balls.

  1. […] First, and actual finished object (modeled here by one of my students who has really good hair!). I made my first (and certainly not my last) Odessa. I made it as a chemo cap for Cheryl, a colleague fighting lymphoma. I don’t know Cheryl well, but I know that in the few times she taught Bunny before she got sick, she turned him from just a curious kid into a budding scientist. I will never forget his explanation to my father about how roots hold up trees, it was Cheryl’s words coming through him… Full details on my FO page for it. […]
