Log Cabin Dishcloth/Hot Mit

front viewThis was mom’s mother’s day gift. Neither of us are quite sure if it’s a dishcloth (a little thick) or a pot holder (a little thin).

Pattern: modified from Mason Dixon Knitting

Modifications: I used the basic log cabin but scaled it down to about 1/3 the size

Yarn: Sugar and Cream (one ombre and three solids)
Needles: Size 8 straight

log cabin backWhat I like: This was fun, and quick, to knit. All the turns kept me interested!

What I would change: Because I didn’t like the back I knitted a plain back and whip stitched them together. I think for my next log cabin experience I will slip a stitch at the beginning of each row so there is a nicer edge from which to pick up stitches.
