Numerical Knitting

About me!

Who am I… well, I'm a wife and mother, I'm a teacher (both of children and other teachers), and I'm a crafter… knitting, scrapbooking, whatever! Oh, and I love almost all things Disney!

So much about Disney that this is what Bunny and I were for Halloween…

I figure I don't have many years left to influence his choice of costume!

I grew up in Lancaster, PA the only child of two math teachers. I went to Oberlin college and majored in math and dance and somewhere about 2/3rds of the way through realized that I really liked teaching. Oh it was also at Oberlin that I met B, boy was he cute… and talented… we met in multivariable calculus, go figure!

After college I taught 7th and 8th grade math in a boarding school in the south. Two years (and a lot of frequent flyer miles) later I moved to Madison with B and started in the graduate program in math education at the University of Wisconsin. During the time we were in Madison we had lots of great adventures, including but not limited to, getting married!

When I finished my Ph.D. I worked on at the university as a researcher, but found I hated it that was not the life for me. I decided to return to the classroom. I accepted a position at a small independent school and B and I returned to the east coast where we have been for the last 7 years.

Bunny arrived on the scene October 3, 2002 and is a constant delight. He's pretty funny and likes to shop, what more do you want in a kid! He's potty trained and sometimes sleeps through the night. I figure you can't have everything.

I started this blog because I was so inspired by other knitting blogs so this will mostly be about knitting, with a little mothering and teaching thrown in. My grandmother taught me to knit as a child and it is something I have done off and on at various points in my life. I enjoy both the creativity and the structure… I was a math and dance major, what do you want?

  1. Math and dance… sounds like my combination of English and biochem! (Only I never finished the biochem…)
