Booties!

Filed under: Knitting — by bethc @ 1:10 pm

I’m slowly feeling better… so long as I don’t move too quickly, but moving quickly is over rated anyway! I did manage to finish a pair of (very small) socks while I had the flu. So I managed a February pair for SAM3! It looked unlikely there for a while. It was good to get another pair of socks under my belt because I can’t wait to dig into the first STR Club package as soon as it arrives! Details about these booties are on my FO page.

It’s snowing today, they were also calling for ice… time will tell about this latest storm. In the mean time Bunny and B are playing Hullabaloo, a great game! I see snow pants in our future!

I have been knitting away on the Baby Yoda Sweater. The shower is on Friday so I hope I get it done. It’s looking promising, the back and one side are done, the other side is started. I’m knitting it in Mission Falls Cotton from here in a great purple color.

With Julie’s announcement the planning for the Super Secret Baby Gift begins… details to be vague…

All Done!

Filed under: General — by bethc @ 10:29 am

The surgery went well, a little longer than expected, but all is fine. I’m feeling pretty good today, of course all I have done is surf the web and watch TV!

Long delayed thanks to SP!

It’s been a while since my last package arrived, but the plague flu has put a damper on my blogging.

It was so much fun being a part of SP9. I had great fun spoiling Holly (check out the great drive she is running!) and even more fun being spoiled by Carol! Is that wrong? I know it’s better to give than to receive, but you know, receiving is fun!! I’m looking forward to SP10 now!

There was a great selection in my last package. There was a Wonder Knitter. Bunny tried it out and declared “I think it’s for five-year-olds, not four-year-olds, you can save it.” I already have a bunch of uses in mind!

There was this cool looking Dynasty Yarn. Two balls, I’m sure I will come up with something great for this!

There was also beautiful note cards and a whole bunch of notions! Buttons, ribbons, a tape measure, yarn needles, I know I’m missing things!

Finally, take a look at this! Yup, that’s Sari Silk!!! I can’t wait. Anyone know how much of this it would take to make a Claoptis? I think some people have done it and I think it would show it off so nicely.

Of course, the most popular part of the gift at our house was…

wait for it…

think, I have a pre-schooler and cats…

did you guess?

It’s the box!

Thanks Carol! You Rock!!

Name that FO!

Filed under: Knitting — by bethc @ 9:11 am

During last Tuesday’s Grade 7 knitting class they had a little fun with my latest FO.

Is it a cowl?

Is it a bad hair day cover?

Is it a “man skirt?” (note the boots!)

Is it a turban?

Is it a tank?

None of the above… It’s the felted tote from One Skein and now it’s patiently waiting to have the bottom stitched and then go for a ride in the washer!

Turns out today is the Blogger (Silent) Poetry Reading. Info here and here. I can’t find any of my actual favorites at the moment so leave you with a few topical poems found here.

Valentine
By Michael Steuben

You are the fairest of your sex,
Let me be your hero,
I love you as one over x,
As x approaches zero.

The Mobius Strip
A mathematician confided
That a Mobius band is one-sided.
And you’ll get quite a laugh
If you cut it in half,
For it stays in one piece when divided.

A Ratio in Rhyme

This poem was written by Leigh Mercer and published in Games magazine:

Or for those who have trouble with the poem:

A Dozen, a Gross and a Score,
plus three times the square root of four,
divided by seven,
plus five times eleven,
equals nine squared and not a bit more.

Hope you enjoy!
